Researchers make me sigh sometimes: Gloomy Thinking Can Be Contagious

Is it only obvious to me that researchers need to spend more time outside the lab and off their researching devices?

“Researchers have long assumed, he says, that the positive and negative traits he spotted in the college students were more or less fixed after adolescence, in part because those traits seem stable in people over subsequent decades.”

This is the very reason why I monitor who I hang out with often. I already knew I could be influenced by negative people so I try to hang out with positive people as often as possible, especially if I’m starting to feel gloomy.

Sometimes researchers really need to open their eyes, experience life, and see people instead of numbers or facts.  When studies like these come out they paint the mental image of lab coats and sealed doors to protect the poor researcher from a tainted and uncontrolled outside world.
