» ‘Children Succeed’ With Character, Not Test Scores

A story about the importance of how parents interact & support their children affects their ability to succeed. Thank you NPR for touching upon this topic. Schools in general really are too concerned with the cognitive & not concerned enough with the character (or whole person) development.

To be frank, not every person will grow up to be a top level genius, but every person does have the potential of growing up to be happy & productive. As educators, mentors & public servants we should be concerned about all the pieces of a person equally. As parents we should be nurturing & encouraging no matter how our children perform. They are our diamonds in the rough needing love & support so they too can shine.
