Reading this blog entry made me realize just how much the librarian must be adapted to wearing many hats.  This library business is truly more than “just” cataloging and checking out books.  It is sad to think that one must find ways to keep the money promised in order to provide the best for our kids.  To be a librarian, you have to be smarter than the average bear!

What does this posting say about being strategic and also about leadership?

In order to secure those funds you have to be forward thinking. Pre-promise your book funds to a company that will hold the promised amount until you can begin ordering those books.

Actually, I had a really hard time this article because the strategies reminded me too much of the tactics played in corporate business, and I have a pretty sour taste in my mouth when it comes to anything corporate. That sour experience is based on being married to a former corporate manager and watching how it almost brought him to his knees.

However, I can see why this librarian would go to such lengths to secure her funds. I just hate to see people put in the position to be sneaky in order to benefit children.
